Overview: The Valley of the Lilies Half Marathon & 5K has a scenic course, featuring rolling hills, on the campus of WCU and along the Tuckaseigee River in Cullowhee, NC.
The Western Carolina University School of Health Sciences and the Department of Campus Recreation & Wellness bring you the fifth annual Valley of the Lilies event.
Proceeds: The proceeds of the race will go to students at WCU to assist in professional presentations, travel to conferences, and other professional development opportunities. We have a strong tradition of undergraduate research and professional engagement, which often leads to student travel and presentations at conferences in his or her field of study. Race proceeds will assist students with the expense associated with these outstanding opportunities. Many students are not able to engage in professional development without financial assistance.
Shirts: All race shirts are technical running short-sleeved shirts. Anyone registered by March 1st will be guaranteed a race shirt in the requested size. We will try our best to accommodate all other shirt size requests after March 1st, but cannot guarantee due to timing of shirt orders and shipping.

Training Program: All Valley registrants are invited to participate in our Valley of the Lilies training program. The program will begin in January to help prepare runners and walkers for both the half marathon and 5k events. There are beginner and advanced tracks. All registrants will receive an email with more information.
Prizes: All half marathon finishers will receive a finisher’s prize. Check out our website at halfmarathon.wcu.edu for updates on the finisher’s prize for 2015. Prizes are also awarded to the following categories for both races: Overall Male and Female, Overall Master’s Male and Female, Top three in each age group: 14 and under (must be 13 to participate in the half marathon), 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
